💰 Requirements to Apply for a Loan

To apply for a loan, the following must all be true:

  • You must have a fulltime permanent job (not temporary, part-time or self-employed)
  • You must not be under debt review or debt restructuring
  • You must have a South African Identity document
  • You must receive payslips
  • You must have your salary or wages paid into your bank account
  • Your bank account must accept debicheck

💸 Loan Limits

  • First-time customers can borrow up to R3,000
  • After that, you may qualify for loans up to R8,000
📈 Interest & Fees (as per the National Credit Act)
  • Interest: 3% per month (36% Per Year)
  • Loan term: Up to 6 months
  • Service fee: R60 per month
  • Initiation fee:
    • R165 for the first R1,000
    • Plus 10% of any amount above R1,000

  • Example 1: Borrow R1000 for 2 months
    → Pay back R1360 (2x R680) 
  • Example 2:  Borrow R2000 for 2 months

    → Pay back R4080 (6x R680)

💼 Step-by-Step Explanation of how the Loan Application process works.
✅ Step 1: Pre-application

You complete the pre-application and tap on “Submit form”.
✅ Step 2:

Despatch Finance will receive the completed pre-application through a secure channel. (No-one else can see your information. It’s protected by the POPI act.)
✅ Step 3: Credit Check

We will check your credit profile to determine whether you qualify. All applications are assessed in accordance with affordability requirements and credit legislation. You will be informed if you qualify to apply for a loan. If you do qualify you will receive a link to a application form. 
✅ Step 4: Online Application

Answer all questions on the application truthfully and upload the required supporting documents. Make sure that the following documents are stored on your phone or are available to take a picture off. You will require them to be uploaded before you can sent the application.
Identity document

1) South African Identity Document
2) A photo of yourself holding your ID
3) Bank Statements (Last 3 months up to day)
4) Latest Payslip

✅ Step 5: Processing of application

Despatch Finance will receive the completed pre-application and uploaded documents through a secure channel. (No-one else can see your information. It’s protected by the POPI act.)

The information will be analysed in the following manner.

Your bank statements and payslip will be verified for authenticity.

Your email address will be verified.

Your workplace will be contacted to verify that you are permanently employed. (We will not tell them about the loan application)

An affordability assessment will be conducted using the information on your credit record.

Based on that assessment you will be notified on WhatsApp for how much you qualifies.
✅ Step 6: Loan Contract

Once the loan amount is agreed on, a Loan Contract and Debicheck mandate will be drawn up and sent to you on WhatsApp.

Use your finger to sign it on your phone and send it back.
Most phones already have a PDF signing app. If not, you can download one for free.
✅ Step 7: Approve Debit Order & Get Money

Your bank will send you a DebiCheck request to approve the debit order.
As soon as you approve it, we will send the money to your bank account. It will be available immediately.

Important Legal Information – Your Rights as a Customer

As a customer, you have these rights:

  • Language Choice: You can ask for documents in your preferred official language (if possible).
  • Before You Sign (NCA Section 92): You must get a clear explanation of the loan costs, terms, and any penalties before you sign the agreement.
  • Pay Off Early (NCA Section 125): You may settle your loan early at any time. You will only pay the outstanding balance, including interest and service fees up to the settlement date.
  • Statements (NCA Section 108): You can ask for a statement at any time to see your loan balance, payments, and other details.
  • Credit Reports (NCA Section 72): You can see your credit report and fix any mistakes with credit bureaus or the National Credit Regulator (NCR).
  • Fair Treatment: If you qualify, you must be treated fairly and not discriminated against when applying for credit.
  • Can You Afford It? (NCA Section 81): Lenders must check that you can afford the loan to avoid you getting into too much debt.
  • Clear Terms (NCA Section 90): Loan agreements must be easy to understand and have no hidden charges.
  • Warning Before Legal Action (Section 129 Notice): You must get a warning and a chance to fix the problem before legal steps are taken.
